RE: Intel Core 2 Duo Overclocking guide!
Someone mentioned on another forum that I should post a few motherboards I recommend:

-Asus Striker (Expensive, but a darn good board)
-Asus P5B
-Asus P5W
-Gigabyte DS3

All of these motherboards are great overclocking motherboards. Coupled with good RAM, you should be on your way to a successful overclock!

I don't think you can usually overclock stock hp's... You might try software called setFSB, it might allow you to overclock your e4300 via software. The BIOS usually doesn't allow you to overclock with hp's, dells, gateways etc.

RE: Intel Core 2 Duo Overclocking guide!
This is an absolutely fantastic thread. I just built my first machine and used the e4300, but was unimpressed with the performance, and heard that it's good for overclocking. I do heavy-duty gaming, and am a broke student heh, so I'm looking for cost-effective methods. This guide seems to cover everything...it almost all sounds easy now!
Just a few questions -
I have a stock Intel CPU fan, but I typically leave the side of my case open. The side that's off has a fan on it and I have another typical desk fan blowing into it as well. Is this enough cooling? Is using a fan not meant for computers a bad idea?
Furthermore, my motherboard is a MICRO-STAR MS-7238 110, intel P965 chipset. For some reason I can't find any posts online regarding this motherboard, and it it allows overclocking. Would you happen to know?

Thanks for your help!

Please note, the general information in this article should also apply to overclocking most Core 2 Quad Processors. So this can also serve as a Core 2 Quad Overclocking Guide.
